Nevada Referees represent strongly at 2017 ODP Region IV Championships in Arizona
Ten referees were selected from the Nevada Referee Mentor Program to participate in one of the highest-ranked youth tournaments in our region. The Olympic Development Program (ODP) Championships tournament consisted of four days of games involving the best U14 to U17 players participating in the Olympic Development Program.
A total of 130 referees from Region IV received instruction, assessments, mentorship and feedback from the games they worked.
The top ranked 32 referees were mentored by four ex or current national, professional or FIFA referees. Three Nevada referees participated in this very elite group. The 32 referees were split into four groups where they were ranked by their mentors. All three of Nevada’s referees were ranked as first in their groups (Uriel Aguilera, Eduardo "Pollo" Gonzalez, and Alejandro Aguilera). On finals day, Uriel Aguilera and Alejandro Aguilera received highest assignment of the tournament as center referees for both the U17 boys and U17 girls championship matches. “We are very proud of all of our referees, and want to commend them for their high achievements on the field this past weekend”, remarked Omar Meza, the Nevada State Referee Administrator.
2017 ODP Nevada referees making the trip to the ODP Championships were Mariano Torres, Marco Vivero, Alejandro Aguilera, Andrea Garcia, Uriel Aguilera, Benjamin Limon, Roberto Catalan, Jesus Ubario, Eduardo Gonzalez, Eduardo Beceiro.
All Nevada ODP referees and State Youth Referee Administrator Juan Guzman want to thank NYSA, NSRC, USYSA and Region IV for all of their support.
